Restoring electricity: over the course of a week, energy workers have repaired the grids for almost 57,000 customers

Over the course of a week (June 20 through 26), DTEK emergency and restoration crews have restored electricity to almost 57,000 families in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, thus restoring electricity to 102 settlements, left without it due to hostilities. Many of these settlements required restoration of electricity on more than 5 occasions since the beginning of a full-scale russian invasion on February 24.

Frequent shelling of settlements in the Donetsk region leads to daily damage of the grids, substations and power outages in the homes of region’s residents. DTEK together with all other services is doing everything possible to restore electricity to the homes of region’s residents. 20 DTEK crews are working every day to ensure stable power supply.

Over the course of a week (June 20 through 26), DTEK energy workers have restored electricity to 54,500 families in 91 settlements of the Donetsk region despite the danger related to hostilities in the region. In some settlements, energy workers have to repair the grids and restore electricity to the residents every day due to the frequent shelling.

We ask residents to treat possible power supply issues with understanding. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore electricity to residents as soon as possible.

Frequent shelling continues in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In particular, settlements in Zelenodolsk community, bordering the Kherson region, are a subject to frequent shelling. DTEK emergency crews have restored electricity to more than 2,000 homes last week. Due to frequent shelling, some homes required restoration of electricity several times a week.

Emergency crews of energy workers are working non-stop for 124 days in a row to promptly restore power to settlements, affected by hostilities.

DTEK electricians together with doctors, volunteers, suppliers of essential food and medicine are doing everything within their power to support Ukraine and Ukrainians in these difficult circumstances

In May, energy workers in the Kyiv region have completed restoration of power supply to the residents of districts that suffered from occupation. In general, preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.

Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region as soon as possible. Second stage of the grids restoration is ahead. A large scope of work is related to restoration of the backup power supply that will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities. In perspective of 2022-2023, it requires investing another UAH 600-700 mln. The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region.
