More than 2,700 green and distributed power generation facilities were connected over the course of six months, – DTEK Grids
The majority of new facilities is traditionally represented by solar power generation. During the first half of the year, household customers connected 2,728 solar power plants, legal customers connected 11 more. At the same time, the business continues to expand distributed generation too: 14 gas engine, gas turbine, and CHP (cogeneration) units, as well as 5 electricity storage installations have been connected to the grid.
This year, DTEK Grids DSO connected a hybrid system for the first time, which combines solar power plant and CHP unit. Such solutions allow to switch between different power generation sources based on the weather and other factors and improve energy sustainability of the system’s owner.
Besides, during the first half of the year 106 household and 109 legal customers gained the status of active consumer*.
“Over six months of this year, the number of green and distributed generation facilities, connected to our grids, has already exceeded the numbers of the entire 2024 and is ahead of the pace of connections set in 2025. This indicates a growing customer interest in ensuring their own energy sustainability. At the same time, every new facility is another step towards decentralized energy industry,” – notes DTEK Grids CEO Alina Bondarenko.
DTEK Grids Distribution Systems Operators continue to create conditions for the connection of green and distributed generation facilities to the grid. Development of such facilities is an important part of enhancing the Ukrainian energy system.
* According to the Procedure for the Sale and Metering of Electricity, an active consumer is the owner of a generating facility connected to the grid who may sell surplus electricity generated by that facility to an electricity supplier under the feed-in tariff ("green" tariff) scheme or through the self-generation mechanism (Net Billing).
