More than 22 tons over three months: how energy workers turn waste into resources

Since the beginning of 2025, the company sent 22.5 tons of various industrial waste for recycling. In particular, scrap metal, porcelain and glass insulators, wooden, plastic and steel containers and packaging, etc.

“Despite the war, the company continues to implement principles of circular economy, in the part of responsible waste management in particular. At the enterprise, we collect it separately, store it in accordance with legal requirements and send it for recycling and reuse. Over the course of three years, we managed to send over 580 tons,” — told Yuliia Koromуslenko, environmentalist at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

Since 2020, the company has built four shielded sites for temporary storage of equipment, materials and waste and installed 102 marked containers for collection and separation of waste. Everything is arranged so as to prevent negative impact on the environment and send waste for recycling and reuse as much as possible.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids also supports public environmental initiatives, a “Precious Plastic” project in particular. In 2024, company’s participation helped collect and send 134 kg of caps for PET bottles for recycling.
